Apple Diverges From Semiconductor Sector, Seesaw Market Action Continues
Apple's stock price rebounded to around $315 after two consecutive trading sessions, diverging from the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index. This marks a similar market performance pattern seen in July, where Apple's stock rose 6.76% while the semiconductor sector fell 20.61%, its worst monthly performance since 2008.
Clyton Allison, portfolio manager at Prime Capital Financial, stated that it makes sense for Apple not to trade in complete sync with the AI infrastructure supply chain, as this inverse correlation can sometimes work against Apple. Jordan McCall, senior portfolio manager at Russell Investments, expects the seesaw market action to continue.
Apple's stock price has reclaimed its major moving averages, but faces resistance near $317.52, a 0.382 Fibonacci retracement level. If it holds above this level, the rebound target could look towards the 0.236 Fibonacci retracement level at $327.85.
