Apple Faces Foldable Fortress as Huawei Captures China's Premium Market
Apple's recent product event took place under intense pressure from premium rivals Huawei and Xiaomi. The Chinese tech giant has been making waves in the market, particularly with its foldable smartphones. In fact, Huawei captured a significant share of China's smartphone market in the second quarter, beating Apple with a 22.6% share compared to Apple's 18.1%. Moreover, Huawei dominated the foldable segment with an impressive 68% shipment share.
Despite this, Apple still holds enormous financial clout. Its fiscal third-quarter revenue surged by 16% to a record $109.4 billion, driven primarily by iPhone sales worth $54.25 billion. However, the company's dependence on iPhone sales is a double-edged sword, as it also makes up nearly half of its quarterly revenue.
This means that losing premium buyers could severely impact Apple's financial engine. With the stock trading at $319.97, which is 12.35% above its GF Value estimate of $284.79, investors have already factored in a significant amount of confidence. As such, Apple must focus on keeping high-end customers loyal without compromising its 50.1% companywide gross margin.
