Apple Foldable iPhone Production Stalls at Just a Few Hundred Units Daily
Apple's highly anticipated foldable iPhone is struggling to meet production targets, with initial output limited to only 'a few hundred' units per day. According to Nikkei Asia, this is due to Apple's extremely high quality control standards, which have added an extra trial run in August ahead of actual production.
The company has targeted production of 8 million to 10 million foldable iPhones this year, but industry executives warn that it could fall short of its goal unless output can be ramped up more quickly. Normally, tens of thousands of phones would need to be produced each day to meet the planned production target.
The iPhone Fold is a major launch for Apple as it enters the smartphone category dominated by Samsung and Huawei. It also has the potential to create a new premium upgrade cycle for the iPhone, expand Apple's addressable market, and provide a new growth driver for its flagship product at a time when the global smartphone market is under pressure.
