Apple Hikes Prices Across Board Amid Memory Cost Surge
Apple's latest fall event saw the unveiling of new iPhone models, including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the first foldable iPhone Duo. The event marked a shift in strategy for the company under new CEO John Ternus, with a focus on high-end premium tiers.
The prices of Apple's flagship iPhones have increased by $100 across the board, with the standard iPhone 18 joining the Pro and Pro Max models in seeing price hikes. This move is largely due to rising memory costs, which have surged over 100% year-over-year.
However, it was the foldable iPhone Duo that stole the spotlight at Apple's fall event. Priced at $1,999, the device boasts a 5.4-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inner display, offering 50% more area than the Pro Max. The Duo also features a dual-battery design and an under-display camera, setting it apart from its predecessors.
The introduction of the iPhone Duo marks Apple's entry into the foldable market, which has long been dominated by Android OEMs. While some may see this as a bold move, others have raised concerns about the price point and potential demand.
