Apple Pay Arrives in Philippines Amid Digital Payment Surge
Apple Pay has launched in the Philippines, providing consumers with an alternative to cashless payments as the country shifts towards digital transactions.
The service allows users to add their eligible debit and credit cards from banks such as Chinabank, GOtyme, Metrobank, and UnionBank to Apple devices like iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches.
This makes it possible for consumers to make purchases by double-clicking the side button on their device and holding it near a contactless payment terminal.
Mastercard and Visa have announced that they will support Apple Pay in the Philippines, with Mastercard's country manager saying that the service enables 'secure, seamless, and convenient payment experiences for consumers.'
The launch of Apple Pay comes as Google Pay has already been available in the country for nearly a year.
