Apple Pay Goes Live in Philippines with Support from Major Banks

Apple Pay has officially launched in the Philippines, Visa confirmed on August 4th. The service allows Visa debit and credit cardholders to add eligible cards to their Apple devices for contactless payments.

The launch is supported by GoTyme Bank, Metrobank, UnionBank, and China Bank, with more banks expected to join over time. At present, GoTyme supports eligible Visa debit cards, while Metrobank, UnionBank, and China Bank support both Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards.

Several major retailers have already begun accepting Apple Pay, including Jollibee, Shake Shack, Ayala Malls, Foot Locker, Rustan’s, Power Mac Center, Globe, and Smart. This move aligns with the country's vision to become a cash-lite economy.
