Apple Pay Overhaul Brings Easier Checkout, New Features
Apple Pay is getting a major overhaul this year, with several new features designed to make checkout faster and more convenient. The most notable change comes with iOS 27, which redesigns the Apple Pay checkout interface on websites and in apps. This updated design allows users to swipe between cards directly on the main payment screen or tap to pull up a grid of all saved cards.
The new interface also provides easy access to individual card details, including rewards balances, pay-later options, and available credit. This redesign is currently in beta and is scheduled to release publicly this fall.
In addition to the redesigned checkout experience, Apple Pay will also introduce two new features later this year. The first allows users to reload supported debit card balances without leaving the Wallet app, either from the card detail view or during checkout.
The second feature, called Tap to Share, enables secure sharing of information between a shopper's iPhone and a merchant's device with a single tap at participating retailers. This feature extends Apple's existing Tap to Pay on iPhone infrastructure and is launching this fall.
