Apple Puts Big Bet on Samsung Tech with $250 per Panel Deal
Apple has signed a three-year exclusive supply agreement with Samsung Display to provide foldable display panels for its iPhone Duo and future models. The deal reportedly includes Apple paying $250 per panel, making it one of the device's priciest components. This marks a significant partnership between the two tech giants, with Samsung's M16 OLED material set said to bring improvements to brightness, color performance, lifespan, and power efficiency over previous OLED generations.
The iPhone Duo is the first device on the market to feature Samsung's advanced technology, and Apple stock has seen a 0.5% increase following the announcement. Gene Munster, managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management, believes that the iPhone Duo could bring in up to 10% of Apple's fiscal 2027 iPhone revenue, doubling his previous projection of 5%. This would make it Apple's biggest launch since the AirPods in December 2016.
