Apple Readies First Mac Mini Upgrade in Two Years Amid Surging Demand
Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its first updated Mac mini in nearly two years. According to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, Apple has tested versions of the Mac mini powered by M5 and M6 chips.
The new product refresh comes at a time when demand for the current Mac mini has surged noticeably, particularly among users running artificial intelligence applications locally.
Tightening global memory chip supplies have put pressure on Apple's production and inventory management, with wait times for some Mac mini orders currently reaching several weeks or even longer.
If the new Mac mini is officially unveiled in the coming days, it could be among the last major new products launched during current Apple CEO Tim Cook's tenure. Cook will step down as CEO on September 1 to be succeeded by John Ternus, head of hardware engineering.
