Apple Reclaims Top Spot as World's Most Valuable Company

Apple's stock has been on the rise after the company surpassed Microsoft and Nvidia as the most valuable in the world.

This marks a significant milestone for Apple, which had not held this position since May 2025, when it was briefly overtaken by Microsoft. It's now back at the top with a market cap of around $4.9 trillion.

One reason for Apple's resurgence is its relatively asset-light business model. Unlike other megacap companies like Microsoft and Alphabet, which are investing heavily in AI infrastructure and taking on significant risks, Apple's capital expenditures have totaled only $11 billion over the past 12 months.

This shift towards Apple is being driven by investor concerns about the high costs associated with building out extensive AI infrastructure. Companies like Microsoft and Alphabet are spending huge sums on data centers, which has raised fears about their long-term commitments and potential risks.

Apple's stock may seem expensive at 39 times forward earnings expectations, but the company could continue to deliver strong earnings without taking on significant capital risk. Several catalysts could drive earnings higher from here, including increased iPhone prices this fall, the release of its AI-powered Siri revamp, and growing demand for its Mac products.
