Apple Stock Price Catches Breath Above Fundamental Floor
Apple's stock price has pulled back to its fundamental floor in the $280-$300 range, but analysts believe it remains a Hold. The company's Services segment generates $31 billion at a 76% gross margin, while $62 billion in buybacks anchor an automatic price floor near $280.
The bear case against Apple is that its valuation is too high, with a 32x forward earnings multiple against only 9-11% revenue growth next quarter. Memory costs are also a concern, with Tim Cook describing them as a '100-year flood'.
However, the bull case argues that Apple has become a software-margin business, with Services generating annuity-like economics. The company's aggressive buyback program and growing installed base of over 2.5 billion active devices defend the low end of its price range.
