Apple Stock Surges on iPhone 17 Sales Boom
Apple's stock has seen a boost in premarket trading following the release of its latest flagship product, the iPhone 17. According to research from Counterpoint, the phone's sales have been well-received by Chinese consumers, who had previously migrated to other China-based mobile manufacturers.
In January, Apple saw an 8% growth in sales, making it the only bright spot in a market that was down 23% overall. Xiaomi and Vivo, among others, saw major declines, with their sales falling 36%, 29%, and 27%, respectively.
The iPhone 17 has been particularly popular in China, with Apple's market share reaching its highest level in January since 2018. The phone now qualifies for government subsidies, which is likely contributing to its success.
