Apple Unveils Plan for iPhone-to-Windows Clipboard Sharing in Late 2027
Apple has announced plans to introduce clipboard sharing between iPhones and Windows PCs. This move comes after Microsoft submitted an interoperability request through Apple's EU Digital Markets Act process in March 2026. The feature, which is expected to be available in late 2027, will allow users to copy content on their iPhone and paste it directly into a Windows PC without needing to manually transfer the data.
According to Apple, the new iOS framework for clipboard sharing will use patterns established by the Accessory Notifications and Accessory Live Activities frameworks introduced in iOS 26.5. This means that an app would need to pair an iPhone with a Windows PC using AccessorySetupKit and obtain user permission to share clipboard content.
The feature is expected to be available through developer beta after the underlying engineering work is completed in fall 2027, but Apple has not confirmed when it will become publicly available worldwide. Currently, users can copy content on their iPhone and paste it into a Windows PC using an email workaround or third-party apps, but this new feature will provide a more seamless experience.
