Apple's 20th-Anniversary iPhone Redesign Remains On Track Despite Production Concerns
Apple's highly anticipated 20th-anniversary iPhone redesign remains on track for next year, according to Bloomberg. The report contradicts earlier claims that Apple had scrapped plans for a rumored all-glass iPhone expected to mark the device's 20th anniversary.
Bloomberg states that the new design will feature glass used on both the front and back of the Pro models, known as V73 and V74, which will curve into the sides of the devices with a metal band in the middle.
The project has undergone changes since its original conception. Apple's design studio initially championed a more aspirational version that used even more glass instead of metal but was scrapped early on due to issues connecting the glass panels together.
Jefferies analyst Edison Lee previously stated that the all-glass iPhone had been canceled due to poor production yields, describing it as a 'major setback' for Apple's efforts to introduce higher-priced iPhones amid rising memory costs.
