Apple's Foldable iPhone Could Cost You an Arm and a Leg

Apple's highly anticipated foldable iPhone could be a game-changer for the tech giant, but its steep price and first-generation hardware raise concerns about whether early buyers will get a good deal.

The device, reportedly dubbed the iPhone Ultra, is expected to debut at Apple's September 9 event alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. According to rumors, it could cost between $2,000 and $3,000, making it one of the most expensive iPhones ever released.

The foldable design features a roughly 5.5-inch outer display that opens into a 7.8-inch inner screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio. When unfolded, the device could measure only about 4.5mm thick, making it thinner than Apple's current iPhone Air and even the 13-inch iPad Pro.

However, some experts warn that the pursuit of extreme thinness may come at the cost of compromises, including the replacement of Face ID with Touch ID built into the power button and a reduced number of rear cameras.
