Apple's Incoming CEO Commits to Building on Entertainment Momentum
Apple's incoming CEO John Ternus plans to build on the company's momentum in the entertainment business. The technology giant has seen success with its Apple TV streaming app, which offers original TV series and films. In 2019, Apple launched Apple TV+, and since then, it has found success with Oscar best picture winner 'CODA,' box-office blockbuster 'F1,' and Emmy-winning shows such as 'The Studio' and 'Ted Lasso.'
Last year, the company dropped the plus sign from its streaming service's name and simply called it Apple TV. Ternus expressed his commitment to continuing this momentum, stating that there are many amazing shows and stories on Apple TV.
Current CEO Tim Cook shared his insights about the entertainment business as part of the leadership transition. He emphasized that Apple's goal is to be the best in its lane, not just the biggest. Cook pointed out that the company has hit its stride with providing high-quality content and is open to future partnerships if it can bring a unique expertise.
One example of this is Apple's partnership with the Formula 1 racing league. For the Brad Pitt movie 'F1,' Apple built custom cameras to help make audiences feel like they were inside a race car. F1 races are now shown exclusively on Apple TV in the United States, and the company provides leaderboards, updates, and other coverage on Apple News and other apps.
