Apple's iPhone 18 Pro Max May Have Exclusive Camera Upgrade
The latest iPhone rumor suggests that Apple may be giving buyers a real choice for the first time in nearly a decade. The claim comes from leaker Ice Universe, who says the iPhone 18 Pro Max will exclusively feature a variable-aperture camera.
This would mark one of the first times Apple has drawn a hard hardware line between its two 'Pro' phones, rather than just scaling up the screen and battery. Until now, industry chatter had assumed the variable aperture would appear on both new Pro models as a shared upgrade.
A variable-aperture camera lets the device physically adjust how much light hits the sensor, giving photographers more control over exposure and depth of field.
This development suggests that Apple may be moving away from making its 'Pro' phones increasingly similar. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to otherwise share nearly identical specs, including the same A20 Pro chip, 48MP triple-camera setup, and matching storage tiers up to 2TB.
