Apple's iPhone Shines Brightly in Space but Faces Challenges Ahead
NASA's Artemis II mission has made headlines for its stunning images captured on an iPhone 17 Pro Max. The space agency cleared the iPhone for extended use in orbit, with each Orion crew member carrying one for personal photos and videos.
The striking shots of Earth through the spacecraft window were taken using the Apple device. In contrast, all other photos from the mission were taken with cameras such as the Nikon D5 and GoPro HERO4 Black.
Apple's iPhone 17 has been a huge success for the company, with revenue from iPhone sales rising 23% to $85.3 billion in the December quarter. However, investors are concerned about the impact of memory chip shortages on phone prices and demand.
The smartphone market is expected to decline nearly 13% year over year to 1.1 billion units in 2026, with IDC predicting a 'tsunami-like shock' from the memory supply chain.
