Apple's Market Value Surges by Over $1.5 Trillion in Past Year
Apple's market value has increased by more than $1.5 trillion in the past year, reaching $4.54 trillion. In August 2016, the company was valued at around $580 billion. A $10,000 investment in Apple in 2016 would be worth about $126,000 today with dividends reinvested.
The stock's growth came from a combination of earnings per share increasing fourfold and the valuation multiple nearly tripling, from 13 times earnings to 36 times. The dividend payout has increased but its yield has decreased due to the rising share price. Apple retired about a third of its shares over the decade through buybacks.
The company's revenue has nearly doubled over the past decade to over $400 billion. Earnings per share reached $8.72 in fiscal 2026, up from $8.31 in 2016. The high-margin services business and AI features spread across its installed base could drive future growth.
