Apple's New CEO Faces Challenges in Maintaining Market Valuation
Apple's new CEO John Ternus has big shoes to fill following Tim Cook's departure after nearly 15 years at the helm. During his tenure, Apple's market capitalization expanded dramatically from $350 billion in 2011 to approximately $4.67 trillion recently.
Cook oversaw a period of significant expansion and transformation at Apple, with the company's stock soaring from around $13.74 per share in 2011 to close at $319.70 on Friday, reflecting a gain of approximately 2,226% during his tenure.
According to Ross Maxwell, Global Operations Lead at VT Markets, Apple's strength comes from its ecosystem and ability to generate recurring revenues outside hardware sales.
However, experts warn that the company faces challenges such as rising component costs, exposure to China, regulatory pressure, and competition. To justify further upside, continued earnings growth and successful AI execution will be increasingly important.
