Apple's Premium Valuation Justified by Exceptional Capital Efficiency

Instruments
AAPL

Apple's stock has been trading at a premium valuation of around 33x forward earnings, despite slower EPS growth and rising hardware costs. However, the company's exceptional capital efficiency, massive free cash flow, and improving Services mix justify this premium.

The key to Apple's economics is its minimal physical reinvestment, which allows it to generate enormous profit from a relatively small base of operating capital. For every $100 of revenue, Apple spends only about $2 on physical capital expenditures.

Apple's Services business, which generated $30.7 billion in revenue in Q3 and $91.7 billion in the first nine months of FY26, carries much stronger margins than its Products business. This means that every incremental dollar of Services revenue is economically more valuable than an incremental dollar of hardware revenue.

While growth may slow down in the future, Apple's strong pricing power, growing Services mix, and exceptional capital efficiency make it an attractive investment opportunity for long-term investors.
