ArcelorMittal Taps Azure for AI-Powered Digital Transformation
Steel giant ArcelorMittal is deepening its collaboration with Microsoft to drive digital transformation and harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI). The company has chosen Azure as its primary cloud computing platform, which will serve as the 'backbone' for enhancing IT systems, consolidating data, and deploying AI across global operations.
Nik Puri, chief information officer at ArcelorMittal, emphasized that technology is central to the company's competitive strategy and a key driver of performance and innovation. He stated that the expanded partnership with Microsoft aims to fundamentally reshape the IT operating model by embedding data and AI into core business processes.
The collaboration will also involve integrating Microsoft's Fabric, Purview, and Foundry platforms to scale digital innovation, strengthen cybersecurity, and drive operational efficiency. Samer Abu-Ltaif, President of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Microsoft, expressed excitement about supporting ArcelorMittal in shaping the AI-first future for global manufacturing.
