Archer Aviation Acquires Boeing Businesses in Defense Push

Archer Aviation has made significant strides in its defense business after announcing a deal with Boeing. As part of the agreement, Archer will acquire three aerospace businesses from Boeing, including Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid.

The deal gives Boeing a stake in Archer worth 19.75% of its Class A shares immediately beforehand. This partnership aims to boost Archer's defense business, which has seen growth in recent months. The company's Midnight eVTOL aircraft is still awaiting certification, but the acquisition of these businesses could provide an alternative revenue stream.

Insitu is a profitable military-drone company that generates more than $200 million in annual revenue. This is significantly higher than Archer's own 2025 revenue of about $300,000. The deal also includes Wisk, which has completed over 1,700 flight tests of its eVTOLs.

The acquisition comes at a cost for Archer investors, however, as the company will issue new stock to Boeing. This means that existing shareholders will own a smaller percentage of the company once the deal is complete.
