Archer Aviation Acquires Boeing's Autonomous Aviation Subsidiaries
Archer Aviation has signed definitive agreements to acquire Boeing subsidiaries Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu. This move marks a significant expansion of Archer's capabilities in autonomous aviation.
The combined organizations bring nearly two million flight hours of experience and cover various aspects of the industry, including autonomous flight, eVTOL aircraft, unmanned aircraft systems, air traffic management, artificial intelligence, commercial aerospace, and defense applications.
Archer stated that the acquired companies will provide a deeper autonomy foundation for its ZEE artificial intelligence platform. This is expected to support the development of an end-to-end physical AI platform for various sectors.
The acquisition also includes a technology-sharing arrangement between Archer and Boeing, allowing Boeing to retain access to Wisk's core autonomous flight technology while focusing on its core businesses.
