Archer Aviation Acquires Boeing's Autonomous Flight Units
Archer Aviation has announced it will acquire Boeing's Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid subsidiaries in a deal that marks one of the most significant shuffles in advanced aviation.
The acquisition includes Wisk Aero, which is working on an autonomous air taxi, Insitu, which provides drone services to 35 countries with revenue exceeding $200 million annually, and SkyGrid, air-traffic software designed for swarms of autonomous aircraft. Boeing will take an equity stake in Archer, a seat on the board, and a technology-sharing agreement.
The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026 pending antitrust review. The acquisition adds nearly two million combined flight hours of data into ZEE, its AI model for aerospace and defense. This marks a significant step forward in becoming a diversified platform with rapid growth in revenue and scale.
