Archer Aviation Acquires Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid from Boeing
Archer Aviation has acquired three subsidiaries from Boeing: Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026 pending antitrust review.
The acquisition includes Wisk Aero's self-flying air taxi technology, Insitu's combat-proven drones, and SkyGrid's air-traffic software. Insitu has generated over $200 million in revenue annually for the past year, with operations in 35 countries.
Boeing will take an equity stake in Archer and have a nominee on its board as part of the deal. The company also retains access to Wisk Aero's autonomous-flight technology through a tech-sharing arrangement.
This acquisition marks a significant shift for Archer Aviation, which had previously focused solely on air taxi development. With this new portfolio, Archer becomes a diversified aerospace-and-defense player with a profitable drone business attached.
