Archer Aviation Buys Boeing Units for eVTOL Ambitions
Archer Aviation (ACHR) has made a significant move in its pursuit of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft by acquiring three units from Boeing. The deal involves Wisk, SkyGrid, and Insitu, with Archer gaining access to autonomous flight technology, airspace management expertise, and unmanned systems capabilities.
The acquisition is an all-stock transaction that will give Boeing a 20% stake in Archer Aviation and grant it a seat on the company's board of directors. The deal is expected to close by 2026.
Archer Aviation has outlined its financial plans for the coming years, forecasting a Q3 2026 adjusted EBITDA loss of $170, $200 million. Despite this, the company remains committed to funding flight tests, certification, and production for its Midnight aircraft.
