Archer Aviation Makes Aggressive Move with Boeing Deal
Archer Aviation is acquiring three Boeing subsidiaries in an all-stock deal that will significantly strengthen its foundations and diversify its operations.
The companies acquired are Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid. Wisk is a leading eVTOL aircraft developer, with over 1,700 flight tests under its belt. SkyGrid offers advanced air-traffic management solutions for automated airspace. Insitu has pioneered the design and manufacturing of uncrewed aircraft systems.
Boeing will retain a 16.75% equity stake in Archer after the deal is completed. The partnership includes a technology-sharing agreement, which should support the continued integration and evolution of Wisk's autonomous flight software for defense and commercial projects.
The acquisitions are expected to provide Archer with immediate revenue growth and improved profitability through Insitu's existing operations. However, current shareholders will experience significant dilution due to the issuance of new stock.
