Archer Aviation Makes Major Play in Aerospace and Defense with Boeing Subsidiary Acquisitions
Archer Aviation is expanding its reach in the aerospace and defense sectors through significant acquisitions. The company has announced plans to acquire three Boeing subsidiaries: Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid. These companies specialize in autonomous aircraft, unmanned systems, and automated airspace management.
The combined technologies from these companies will be integrated with Archer's ZEE artificial intelligence platform for aerospace and defense. According to Archer, the acquisition will add a profitable defense business generating more than $200 million in annual revenue.
Wisk Aero has spent 16 years developing autonomous aviation technology, completing over 1,700 flight tests. Insitu designs and manufactures unmanned aircraft systems for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance applications. SkyGrid develops aircraft-agnostic air traffic management software.
