Arista Networks Surges Past IBM in Valuation Metrics
Arista Networks and International Business Machines are two tech stocks that cater to different aspects of the industry. Arista provides the essential switching hardware for modern data centers, while IBM helps global enterprises navigate AI and hybrid cloud environments through software and consulting.
Arista's revenue reached nearly $9 billion in FY 2025, a 28.6% increase from the prior year, driven by high demand for data center solutions. The company maintained a net margin of approximately 39%, with no debt relative to shareholder equity. Arista also reported free cash flow of close to $4.3 billion.
International Business Machines, on the other hand, provides a wide array of software, consulting, and infrastructure services to help clients modernize their operations. Its platforms focus on embedding artificial intelligence into core business workflows through strategic partners like Amazon and Microsoft. In FY 2025, IBM's revenue reached nearly $67.5 billion, representing growth of approximately 7.6% compared to the prior year.
When comparing the two companies, Arista trades at a significant premium to IBM, making it the more expensive choice based on its P/S ratio and Forward P/E estimates. However, Arista's latest results showed revenue growth accelerating to nearly 38%, driven by continued demand from its concentrated base of cloud infrastructure customers.
