Arizona Cardinals Score Big with New Dell-Based IT Infrastructure
The Arizona Cardinals, an American football team based in Phoenix, has modernized its IT infrastructure by partnering with Dell and Integrated Media Technologies (IMT).
The team's previous IT setup was outdated and struggling to keep up with the demands of game day operations. Erik Jones, the Cardinals' VP of information technology, inherited a complex infrastructure that included over 1,000 Cisco IP phones, video-conferencing consoles, and 700 plasma screens for advertising.
Jones worked with IMT to implement a new Dell-based IT stack, which includes PowerEdge R-Series servers, PowerScale file storage, PowerStore primary storage, and PowerProtect Data Domain appliances. The new infrastructure has improved performance and reduced latency, allowing the team to access critical data and analytics in real-time.
The Cardinals' media team now captures and processes hundreds of terabytes of gameday video content, used for social media, broadcasts, and fan engagement. The team's scouting and football operations platforms also run up to 10x faster than before, giving coaches and staff instant access to game film, player data, and insights.
Jones plans to leverage the new infrastructure to implement AI-powered solutions to enhance fan experiences, including facial recognition for streamlined entry and AI-enabled retail and food and beverage transactions. The team's adoption of Dell technology has also made them 'AI-prepared', as Jones noted in a statement.
