Arizona Kitchen Gets Bright New Look with Neutral Color Scheme
Pamela Stewart's kitchen in her Arizona condo had a dated and dreary feel despite its high ceilings and large windows. The space felt dark due to the combination of brown floors, cabinets, and countertops.
The problem was exacerbated by the open layout, which allowed shadows to change throughout the day. Pamela's goal was to create a brighter, more elegant space that matched the unit's upscale feel.
However, she had to work within budget constraints and couldn't replace the flooring or countertops. Choosing a paint color that would blend with the existing features proved to be the hardest part of the transformation.
Pamela initially selected Sherwin-Williams' 'Taupe of the Morning' for the cabinets but found it changed significantly after painting, due to the light reflecting from the large windows. She eventually painted the entire kitchen with Sherwin-Williams' 'Alabaster', which brought together the neutral colors and blended the new cabinet color.
The addition of a white high-gloss backsplash helped to blend the colors on the cabinets and added an elegant, contemporary feel to the space.
