ARK Backs Personalized Cancer-Vaccine Future Amid Hurdles

Cathie Wood's ARK Investment Management is backing personalized cancer-vaccine treatments, which could potentially make broadly applied treatments look outdated.

ARK highlighted Merck and Moderna's Intismeran Autogene, a custom-built mRNA vaccine that trains the immune system to attack specific mutations in each patient's tumor.

The therapy has shown promising results in high-risk melanoma, with patients remaining cancer-free longer and delaying distant spread compared to Keytruda alone. Phase 3 data have not been presented yet, but ARK estimates approval is 'highly likely.'

Sellas Life Sciences' lead candidate, Galinpepimut-S (GPS), is a cancer vaccine being tested in acute myeloid leukemia patients. The company has also combined GPS with Keytruda in some studies.
