Arsenal Crest Made from Aircraft Parts Unveiled at Emirates Stadium
Emirates Engineering in Dubai transformed unwanted aircraft parts from Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s into a massive illuminated sculpture of the Arsenal Football Club crest. The 2.4-meter-high sculpture, built to mark 20 years of the airline's partnership with Arsenal, features several aircraft components.
The Arsenal cannon at the center of the crest is made from an Airbus A380 main landing gear assembly wheel hub and a titanium bleed-air duct. The shield surrounding the cannon is clad in aluminum fuselage skin taken from a Boeing 777, while aircraft cargo tracks form parts of its outer edge and supporting structure.
The 'Aircrafted' Arsenal Crest took 34 days to complete and involved a team of 15 engineers, designers, mechanics, technicians, and painters. Emirates operates the world's largest fleets of both the A380 and Boeing 777, generating significant amounts of components and materials removed during maintenance and retirement.
The upcycled crest was unveiled at Emirates Stadium on August 9 by Emirates Airline President Sir Tim Clark and Arsenal Chief Executive Richard Garlick. The partnership between Emirates and Arsenal began in 2006 when the club moved to its new stadium, and has been extended until 2033.
