Art of Animation Resort Announces Long-Awaited Refurbishment Dates

Walt Disney World's Art of Animation Resort is set for a major refurbishment starting in mid-June 2027 and lasting through October 2028. The resort will remain open during this time, with work taking place one themed section at a time to minimize disruptions.

The refurbishment is part of Disney's ongoing effort to update its hotel inventory, which has seen 10 lobbies and 18,000 hotel rooms refreshed in the last five years alone. This represents roughly 62% of all rooms on property.

During the presentation earlier this year, Disney shared concept art for an updated Little Mermaid room, indicating a strong commitment to preserving whimsy in the design process. Guests staying at the resort during the refurbishment may see or hear maintenance work during daytime hours and should be prepared for possible alternative paths of travel.
