AstraZeneca and Amgen's Tezspire shows promising results in treating EoE, a debilitating swallowing disease.

EoE is a chronic condition where eosinophils build up in the esophagus, causing damage and difficulty swallowing. It affects over 470,000 people in the US, with a prevalence that has increased fivefold since 2009.

The CROSSING trial demonstrated statistically significant improvements for Tezspire patients at week 24, sustained through week 52. The co-primary endpoints were histologic remission and difficulty swallowing compared to placebo.

Arjan Bredenoord, primary investigator in the trial, said 'The impressive results from the CROSSING trial sustained over 52 weeks demonstrate that Tezspire... could provide a new approach to treating EoE.'
