Astros Owner's Cargo Plane Crash Raises Concerns Over Safety Protocols

Jim Crane, owner of the Houston Astros baseball team and an airline magnate worth $2.5 billion, is at the center of a tragedy involving one of his companies' cargo planes that crashed in Miami last week.

The plane, operated by 21 Air, was carrying Amazon Prime Air cargo when it overshot a runway on September 6, killing five people and injuring two pilots.

Crane acquired 21 Air through an LLC in 2021 and has since grown the company's fleet to 16 planes from four or five. He claimed control over the airline's operations, stating 'I own the controlling interest. I've got all the buttons.'
