ASUS Adds Safety Feature to Prevent High-Current GPU Damage
ASUS has updated its GPU Tweak III software to include a new safety feature that can automatically shut down a PC when it detects high current flowing through the power connection of certain Nvidia graphics cards.
The update, available in version 2.1.8.0 released on August 17, is designed for ASUS graphics cards equipped with Power Detector+, a technology that monitors the current passing through individual pins on compatible GPUs.
Users can adjust how long the condition needs to remain active before the PC shuts down and will receive a countdown notification before the system turns off. The feature is disabled by default and must be enabled in GPU Tweak III for protection.
