ASUS Cancels RTX 5090 Order Due to Price Hike
Nvidia's RTX 5090 is facing criticism over its pricing, which some consider to be absurd. The GPU has an official MSRP of £1799 ($1999 US), but in reality, prices have skyrocketed to over £3000 in the UK for non-premium models. A Reddit user, IndependentOk1031, ordered an ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 BTF through Nvidia's marketplace at a pre-tax price of $4,429.
However, when ASUS was asked to fulfill the order, they cancelled it due to a price hike, raising the cost by $553 to $4,982. The customer received a full refund, but not before being passed back and forth between Nvidia and ASUS support staff, who blamed each other for the issue.
The incident has sparked debate over whether Nvidia's pricing is fair, particularly in countries where cancelling an order due to price hikes may be considered illegal. Neither Nvidia nor ASUS has publicly commented on the matter.
