Asus, Lenovo Join Forces for Google's Ambitious Googlebook Project
Asus and Lenovo are among the hardware partners working on Google's upcoming Googlebooks. These devices, announced in May, might replace or complement Chromebooks, which have been successful in educational circles.
The Asus model features a premium design made of Ultra-Ceramic Light Alloy, making it 34% lighter and 13% stronger than previous models. The laptop has an ample selection of ports, including two USB Type-C, two USB Type-A, and a full-sized HDMI port.
Googlebooks will run Google's custom Android-based OS, designed for desktop use, which combines the Android app ecosystem with a fully functioning Google Play Store. This operating system is meant to move from an 'operating system to an intelligence system', integrating deeply with your Android phone and Chrome browser.
The Lenovo model appears similar to the Asus one, with the same generous port selection and a prominent 'glowbar' feature that is also present in the Asus model. Google has mentioned that these devices will come in various shapes and sizes, making it exciting for potential buyers.
