Atlanta Mother Arrested After Child Found Alone Downtown
A disturbing incident unfolded in downtown Atlanta on Tuesday night when a passerby found an unattended child wandering alone. The child, described as nonverbal and clad only in a black T-shirt, was discovered at approximately 11:35 p.m. on the 400 block of Luckie Street.
The area is just a few blocks away from popular attractions like the Georgia Aquarium, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and the World of Coca-Cola.
After being taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Hughes Spalding Hospital for treatment and evaluation, police canvassed the area to locate the child's parent or guardian. Eventually, 34-year-old Kira Jackson arrived at the scene, where she was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to children.
Jackson remains in custody at the Fulton County Jail as authorities continue their investigation into the matter.
