Attic Ladder Recall: Over 1.7 Million Units Sold Nationwide
More than 1.7 million attic stairway ladders have been recalled due to reports of broken bolts and falls, including one incident where someone was injured in the neck, head, and back.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall, which affects various brands including Louisville, Featherlite, Lite, and Century. The affected ladders are aluminum or wood frame models with gas struts that come with handrails and fold into the attic.
Louisville Ladder Inc., the manufacturer of the recalled ladders, stated that the bolts on the ladders could break, causing injury or even death. There have been 11 reports of a bolt breaking since November 2012, when sales began at retailers such as Home Depot and Lowe's.
The recall affects over 1 million ladders sold across various stores nationwide for between $170 and $600. Consumers are advised to stop using the ladders immediately and visit www.atticstairwayrecall.expertinquiry.com to obtain a free repair kit.
