Avid Brings Browser-Based Editing to Media Composer with Google Cloud
Avid and Google Cloud have expanded their strategic partnership to bring Avid Media Composer, a flagship video editing platform, directly into the browser. This move aims to remove the constraints of physical hardware and administrative friction in post-production environments.
The integration embeds Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise and BigQuery directly into Avid's post-production environment alongside media-specific AI agents and Avid tools. As a result, editors and directors can collaborate seamlessly from anywhere, automate repetitive tasks, and focus on storytelling.
A recent survey by Avid found that 79% of professional editors are using AI in their workflows, with speech-to-text and transcription cited as the most common use cases (60%). The findings highlight the importance of integrating AI more seamlessly into established professional environments.
