A leading leasing company, Avolon, has announced a sale and leaseback agreement with Indian carrier Akasa Air for up to seven Boeing 737-8200 aircraft. The deal was finalized on August 14, 2026.

The move allows Akasa Air to free up financial resources while continuing to operate the aircraft as normal. This arrangement is part of Avolon's strategy to help airlines like Akasa Air manage their finances more efficiently.

Akasa Air operates a fleet of 17 Boeing 737-8200s, with each plane configured for 197 passengers in a single-class cabin. The airline has been operating the type since 2023 and has become one of the largest players in India's low-cost air travel market.
