AWS Executive Dave Levy Defects to Google Amid Cloud Computing Boom
AWS Vice President Dave Levy has left Amazon Web Services (AWS) after nearly nine years to join Google, one of its main competitors. Levy's last day at AWS was July 31st, according to an AWS spokesperson.
Levy joined AWS in 2017 after a 12-year stint as Apple's head of U.S. government sales. He went on to lead the company's worldwide public sector business from 2023 onward. David Appel has taken over Levy's former role in an acting capacity.
The move comes as AWS approaches its 15th anniversary of GovCloud, which debuted in 2011 as the first cloud infrastructure accredited and designed for government customers. AWS remains the dominant market leader in worldwide cloud computing with nearly 28% of global market share, while Google's business continues to grow.
