AWS Struggles to Restore Operations After Iranian Attacks Damage Data Centers
AWS, Amazon's cloud computing service, is struggling to restore operations at its data centers in Bahrain and one of three UAE zones after they were damaged by Iranian attacks. The damage exceeded what AWS' regional and multi-availability zone services are designed to withstand.
The company confirmed it cannot restore access to resources and data hosted exclusively in the affected zones, affecting most customers who have successfully migrated operations to alternate regions using backups or alternative solutions.
AWS has nine data zones in the Middle East, including three in the UAE. The impacted zone is one of these three, and the entire Bahrain network was also knocked out by the attacks.
