Azure Soars Past $100B Annual Revenue as Microsoft Growth Accelerates

Microsoft's recent quarterly results have provided convincing evidence of its enduring growth. The company's Azure business has surpassed $100 billion in annual revenue for the first time, with a year-over-year growth rate of 43% in Q4 and guidance for 45% growth in Q1 FY27. This acceleration is a significant signal for investors.

The overall revenue for Fiscal Q4 2026 was $90.01 billion, up 17.75% from the previous year, with non-GAAP diluted EPS of $4.74 beating estimates by 11.81%. Intelligent Cloud generated $39.31 billion in revenue, up 32%, and Microsoft Cloud reached $59.3 billion, up 27%.

The commercial remaining performance obligations (RPO) have increased to $678 billion, an 84% year-over-year growth, indicating a significant commitment from customers to AI transformation. Microsoft 365 Copilot has seen over 30 million paid seats, each representing a subscription add-on for already-invoiced customers.

Microsoft's business quality is also notable, with return on invested capital of 22%, an operating margin of nearly 47%, and a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.29. Operating cash flow grew by 30% in the quarter to $55.4 billion.
