BAE Teams Up with Turkish Tech Firm on Autonomous Defense Platform

BAE Systems has partnered with Turkish technology firm TUALCOM to develop autonomous defense technologies. The agreement will focus on integrating advanced communication, navigation, and electronic warfare capabilities into autonomous systems for use in contested environments.

The collaboration aims to establish a framework for rapidly evaluating and identifying these technologies for programs in the UK, Turkey, and international markets.

According to BAE Systems' managing director Dave Holmes, future autonomous capability will depend on advanced aircraft as well as the resilience of systems that enable them to sense, communicate, and make decisions in increasingly contested environments.

The partnership is part of a series of collaborations aimed at strengthening autonomous military capabilities. Other notable partnerships include Honeywell Aerospace and Shield AI's development of a trusted autonomy software stack, and Kodiak AI and General Dynamics Land Systems' collaboration on autonomous military vehicles.
