Bangladesh Aviation Expert Weighs in on Trump's Boeing Sales Pitch

Aviation expert Kazi Wahid ul Alam from Bangladesh commented on US President Donald Trump's actions regarding the sale of Boeing aircraft to Bangladesh. Alam stated that Trump acted like a salesman, trying to sell his products, including Boeing aircraft, to other countries. He noted that Bangladesh is considered a growing market for aviation and believes Trump advocates for selling more Boeing aircraft due to this.

Alam also commented on the decision of the Bangladeshi government to upgrade Cox's Bazar airport into an international one. He expressed caution about the move, stating that it may not serve much purpose as Cox's Bazar is not a major area for traffic or cargo. He noted that Chittagong and Sylhet airports are already underutilized, raising questions about the necessity of upgrading Cox's Bazar airport.

The United States has expressed gratitude to Bangladesh for purchasing Boeing aircraft through a letter from President Trump to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The agreement between Bangladesh Biman Airlines and Boeing includes the purchase of 14 aircraft at a cost of USD 3.7 billion, with delivery expected between 2031 and 2035.
