Bangladesh Buys 14 Boeing Jets for National Carrier in $3.7 Billion Deal
Bangladesh is set to purchase 14 Boeing aircraft from the US for its national flag carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, in a deal valued at $3.7 billion.
The announcement follows an agreement with Boeing in April and comes after the US requested that Bangladesh use Boeing aircraft.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat said the government is also planning to procure Airbus aircraft to strengthen its aviation sector.
The minister acknowledged the country's ongoing power and gas shortages, saying they were a problem inherited from the previous government.
Millat emphasized that resolving the energy crisis would take time due to the need for new infrastructure and generation capacity.
